About 60% of schools currently meeting partially online.
On Thursday, Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona said he believes that all students would be able to return to in-person education at the start of the upcoming 2021 Fall semester. Currently, roughly 40% of the nation’s public schools are still meeting remotely, and an additional 20% are operating with a hybrid model of in-person and online.
Secretary Cardona stated, “With regard to… September, yes, I expect all schools to be open full-time in person for all students. We really need to make sure students have the opportunity to learn in the classroom, and quite frankly, I’d rather have it this spring. … Students don’t learn as well remotely. There is no substitute for in-person learning.”
